PP Monitor
|
What is PP Monitor? What is the difference to the existing PP Batt software (PP Meter und PP Graph)?
|
PowerProtect Monitor (PP Monitor) is used for the monitoring of MASTERGUARD UPS and battery systems. PP Monitor allows the integrated display and management of UPS and battery data.
PP Monitor is used instead of running several individual software applications PP Meter, PP Graph (battery monitoring using BVM measurement modules) and PP VIS (UPS data).
Warning and error messages are displayed on the PP Monitor screen and can be broadcasted using E-Mail or network message services. Additionally, an external application can be launched, if a warning or error occurs. Using external applications, even SNMP messages (traps) can be generated.

How can I change the network settings of the DEUS Bluebox? How can I install updated software, e.g. a newer version of PP Monitor?
|
The DEUS Bluebox is locked against modifications of the system configuration (Windows Steady State). To unlock the system and allow modifications, please see the document 'DEUS Bluebox Administratio' below.

What is a DEUS PC system? Where can a get further technical Information?
|
MASTERGUARD DEUS system are pre-installed desktop PC systems for use with software applications PowerProtect Monitor or PowerProtect Meter / PowerProtect Graph. DEUS desktop PC systems were available from 08/2001 to 12/2006 and are discontinued. They are superseded by the DEUS Bluebox system (see above). Please consider the DEUS Bluebox for new applications.

How do I set up or modify the dry relact contact option for a DEUS system?
|
The configuration is specified in a text file named "ppcontact.cfg". This file is usually located in the
directory "C:\Program Files\PowerProtect Software". It can be edited using the Windows Notepad.
In the file "ppcontact.cfg" you specify which PP Archive variables show the system's condition and should control the relay contacts.
This will be most likely the "_BVMStatus" and "_Alarm" values which are also displayed in the PP Graph window of the
DEUS system. See below for more information concerning functionality and configuration of the PPContact relay contact
option. (NOTE: The custom application PowerProtect Monitor has built-in support for relay contacts. Configuration is done
using the menu Commissioning-->External Alarms.)

How can I configure the communication via network and a Serial Device Server LANTRONIX UDS-10?
|
Open the Dialog "Options" in PP Meter (Menü Settings-->Options...). Enter the IP address and the
TCP port number in the field Measurement-->Communication Channel. The TCP port number is 10001 by default.
Use the same setting for the TCPPort value within the UDS-10 device. Set the Interface Mode of the
UDS-10 to the value 7C (9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, even parity). Additional
information on configuration can be found in the DEUS quick reference (see below).

How large will my PP Archive database file get?
|
The PowerProtect Batt system is designed to keep the total battery
history in a database smaller than 600MB so that it is still possible
to do a backup on a standard CD-R. As a rule of thumb you may assume that
for a battery site with 500 single block voltages measured, the average
database increase will be below 4 MB per month. If the battery is discharged
frequently, the database will grow faster, but in this case your battery
will also reach the end of its service life far earlier.

How can I get an overview of the state of all my batteries
monitored by PP Meter?
|
Besides the single battery voltages, summary status information
is recorded in the database by PP Meter. Use the visualization
software PowerProtect Graph for displaying these status messages.
Use the menu "View->New->Momentary Values" to open a new window
for displaying the current status. Select the database where the
PP Meter data is stored, and choose the status attributes required,
e.g. "UPS1_Battery1_Alarm" or "UPS1_Battery_AverageVoltage".
Note: When the dialog "Select Variables to Display" is opened,
you will receive a list of all attributes available in the PP Archive
database. For large battery sites, this may include several hundreds
of single block battery voltages. The list is sorted alphabetically,
so the summary attributes may be somewhere in the middle of the list.
TIP:
Choose an identifier with a leading underscore ("_"),
e.g. "_UPS1_Battery1_Alarm", for all status and alarm attributes generated by PPMeter. These attributes will then appear on top within the PPGraph selection list. See PPMeter, menu "Settings->Options", tabs "Archive" and "Monitor"

How can I look at the battery data recorded?
|
Use the visualization software PowerProtect Graph to display
a graph for the data recorded for any single battery block, or to display summary values
like the average block voltage. See the "Getting Started" section of the PP Graph Online help.

How can I copy the data displayed in PP Graph
to another application, like MS Word or MS Excel?
|
Use the menu "Edit->Copy to clipboard".
For a Display Window "Graphical Trend", the diagram along
with the table it is based on are transferred. Then go to
your MS Word or MS ExCel document and select the menu the
"Edit->Paste Special". A dialog is opened where you can choose
to insert the data as a text table or as a diagram.
