Solution

1. DEUS Bluebox / PP Monitor V1.4
PP Monitor shows the dialog "Select Archive" on startup. After confirming with OK the message "The PP Archive database does not exist or could not be opened" appears. How do I restore the configuration?
This malfunction can have the following causes: *** 1. The file "d:\pparchive_bluebox.ppd" was damaged, e.g. during a power failure. *** 2. The maximum size of 2GB for the database has been reached. Troubleshooting information for PP Monitor V1.4: Please follow the troubleshooting instructions from the document below. Troubleshooting information for PP Monitor V1.5: in PP Monitor V1.5 or higher, the above situation is resolved automatically on the next restart. For this purpose, PP Monitor V1.5 creates an additional ..._RECOVERY.ppd file along with the regular daily backup. After an irreparable database damage, PP Monitor creates a new database, e.g. "d:\pparchive_bluebox_2.ppd" and loads the configuration as well as the latest measurement data from the _RECOVERY file.

2. DEUS + PP Meter V1.3 / PP Graph V1.3
Maximum database size of 2GB is reached, the system is blocked. How can I restore the system?
*** 1. Close all MASTERGUARD applications running, including the background application PPContact.exe (use Windows Task Manager --> End Task). See also readme.txt in E:\Configuration. *** 2. Create a backup copy of the database on D: (e.g. "pparchive_deus0020.ppd"). Rename this file (e.g. "pparchive_deus0020_backup.ppd") and remove the file to drive E: *** 3. Restore the original PP Meter / PP Graph configuration on delivery: Start the script "install.bat" from directory "E:\Configuration" by double-clicking on it. A new database will be created in D:, with the original system configuration on delivery of the DEUS PC, but without any measurement data. *** 4. Restart the DEUS PC.

3. PP Meter V1.3
When loading a configuration in PP Meter, the application reports a "Could not load configuration" error.
Using Windows XP French Edition, or any other language version except English or German, can cause a problem when loading or storing PP Meter configuration data. To fix this problem, please re-install the PP Batt software package using the latest edition of the PP VIS / PP Batt / PP Monitor software CD, available from CHLORIDE / MASTERGUARD Service.
4. PP Meter V1.3 / PP Graph V1.3
PP Meter and PP Graph only run on my laptop, if it is connected to the company network. In mobile operation (on site), both applications exit with an error message "Cannot connect to PPArchive data archive".
The data archive component "PPArchive", which is included in the PP Graph V1.3 and PP Meter V1.3 software, requires access to the "My Documents" folder in the current version. This folder can be unavailable in some environments. To fix this problem, please re-install the PP Batt software package using the latest edition of the PP VIS / PP Batt / PP Monitor software CD, available from CHLORIDE / MASTERGUARD Service. The PP Archive files affected will now be created in "[user profile]\Local Settings\Application data" instead of "My Documents"
5. PP Meter / PP Monitor
BVM communication using LANTRONIX UDS-10 is not working. If the Converter RS232 - Fibre Optics is connected directly to COM1 of a service laptop, communication and data acquisition is ok.
Please check the following settings: 1. Are the IP settings correct? Are the subnet and gateway parameters correct? See the UDS-10 user manual, and check the settings with the local network administrator. 2. Is the Interface Mode set correctly in the UDS-10? For BVM communication Interface Mode = 7C (9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, even parity) is required. 3. Is the TCPPort settings correct in the UDS-10 adapter? The TCPPort must be set to the same value as the TCPPort chosen in PP Meter. PP Meter uses Port 10001 by default. Please note: Do NOT use TcpPort=14001 (as required for the LANTRONIX Redirector software). See also the quick reference included in DEUS PC systems, section "Configuration of Communication Ports", from page 5. For PP Monitor see PP Monitor Operating and Service Manual, 6.2.2 BVM Commissioning.

6. PP Graph V1.2, PP Meter V1.2
Database size increases drastically (> 100MB) within a few days.
Possible causes: The PC power supply was interrupted or PC crashed while the PowerProtect applications were running. This does usually not result in data loss, but may corrupt the MS Access database structure. Troubleshooting: Update to PP Meter V1.3 / PP Graph V1.3. In the program installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\PowerProtect Software\PPBatt V1.3) you can find the service tool "PPArchiveRepair.exe". Use this tool to repair and compact the database.
